About

My initials are the letters of the alphabet--backwards. Words I'd use to describe myself: Youthful. Energetic. Silly. Cheerful. Sweet. Friendly. Lively. Gregarious. Open-minded. Playful. Stubborn. Strong. Hearty.

Let’s Talk Fitness!

Ever since I joined the YMCA in May, I have been really dedicated to my workout schedule. In college, I used to work out hard core! I was actively working out 5-6 times a week doing cardio and weights to tone myself up. I was in the best shape of my life!

And then, I got a full-time job. Ok—so my workouts slowed down a bit. And then, I got sick with my chronic illness, and that really kicked working out to the curb. On and off since I’ve been diagnosed with my illness, I’ve been working out, but I was never really able to develop a steady schedule as before.

Now, things have changed! Despite my little injuries (shin splint, slight ankle sprain, & possible ingrown toenail [seems fine now]), I’ve kept moving. I would work out on the elliptical or walk the track, but I’d go slower than usual and not work out as long.

Yesterday, I tried Kickboxing for the first time! I figured since I’m a petite, fiesty female, this workout may be just for me. Well, it was—except for all the bouncing around/jumping/jogging in place—that shit just hurt my shin more and my poor grandma-like knees. Eeek! So, I modified it by marching or standing in place while kicking/punching. It was friggin awesome! I loved the part where we got to line up and take turns at the punching bag (one of those HUGE ones), and we’d alternate kicking both legs on the bag and then punching it.

When I told my mom about trying Kickboxing for the first time, she goes, “What? You?” And I said, “Omigod! What do you mean?!” And she says, “well I didn’t really see you as the kickboxing type!” And I replied with a dead stare, hands on hips saying, “Ma. Really? With my fiesty, scrappy self? You think I wouldn’t enjoy Kickboxing?!?” She smiled and nodded her head.

Amen to fitness!!!
